Myongji Hospital's Sports Medicine Center said that it would hold the third Myongji Hospital Sports Medicine Symposium on Sunday. The hospital will hold the symposium online through YouTube, and only those who have registered in advance can participate.

Under the theme of "History, Present and Future of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstruction," the symposium will unveil the latest research based on the various clinical experiences and research of orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine experts at various university hospitals on the injury, reconstruction, and subsequent management of the ACL.

The symposium will consist of four sessions -- understanding ACL injury, considerations for ACL reconstruction, rehabilitation treatment for ACL reconstruction, and returning to sports after ACL reconstruction.

Professor Ha Jung-gu of Seoul Paik Hospital will chair the understanding ACL injury session.

Presentations include "Basic Science: Anatomy and Biomechanics," "Imagination: X-Ray, Ultrasound, MRI," "Graft Selection for ACL Reconstruction," and "'Clinical Evaluation and Physical Examination."

The second session dealing with "Considerations for ACL Reconstruction" and chaired by Professor Jung Kyu-sung, will include presentations such as "Anterior and Lateral Ligament," 'Various Surgical Approaches," "Complex Damage to the Meninges and Cartilage," "Anterior Cruciate Ligament Rupture in a Skeletal Premature Infant," and "ACL Reconstruction Reoperation."

The third session, with the theme of rehabilitation treatment for ACL reconstruction and chaired by Professor Lee Dong-won of Konkuk University Hospital, will include presentations about rehabilitation treatment based on exercise therapy experience from exercise therapists at Myongji Hospital and Konkuk University Hospital.

The fourth session, chaired by Myongji Hospital President Kim Jin-goo, will include "Criteria for returning to sports after ACL reconstruction," "Meaning of functional tests and clinical application," "Projects of continuous exercise training after returning to sports," and 'ACL Functional Recovery Treatment Application: Introduction to Eimiracle."

"To commemorate the achievement of 3,000th ACL surgery, we prepared this symposium to look back on the history of ACL reconstruction and discuss the present and future," Myongji Hospital President Kim said. "It will be a meaningful event to share the latest knowledge and experiences with various experts when the number of patients with ACL injuries increases as the population who enjoys sports increases."
