The existing Biotop series include Biotop D, a combination of lactic acid, butyric acid, saccharifying bacteria, and the high-dose product Biotop High. The medicine is indicated for intestinal disorders, constipation, loose stools, abdominal distension, and abnormal fermentation in the intestine.

The new addition, Biotop Forte Cap., mixed butyric acid bacteria, saccharifying bacteria, and yeast.

The company said Biotop Forte Cap. also includes Saccharomyces boulardii, rarely affected by gastric acid, bile, and antibiotics. Saccharomyces boulardii is a probiotic yeast known to help prevent antibiotic-associated diarrhea and alleviate intestinal inflammatory responses caused by harmful bacteria.

Biotop Dual Cap. combined two types of beneficial intestinal bacteria for better bowel management. According to the company, the product has higher proportions of saccharifying bacteria and butyric acid bacteria than existing drugs.

With the expanded lineup of probiotics, Hanall Biopharma aims to rank top in outpatient prescriptions of microbial antidiarrheal medicines this year. In the future, the company plans to roll out Biotop in fine granules for children and achieve 20 billion won ($15.3 million) sales from Biotop series by 2025.

Son Beom-kyu, director of the sales support division at Hanall Biopharma, said the new products were expected to receive good responses because they were improved from existing products with expert opinions.

“By adding new drugs in different forms and ingredients, we will continue to broaden patient treatment options,” he said.
