Pfizer Korea is stirring controversy, as the company abruptly canceled its recruiting process and notified job applicants of the decision without giving them a plausible reason.

Pfizer Korea was planning to hire 17 full-time sales representatives with experience who had passed the first application procedure.

“The company had to cancel the recruitment process due to internal reasons,” a Pfizer official said to Korea Biomedical Review over the phone. The official fell short of providing details about their decision to call off its recruitment, however.

According to Chosun Biz, a local news outlet, the company’s sudden decision has angered prospective applicants that had applied for the job.

"I had confirmed the date of the interview with Pfizer Korea's human resources team and also submitted all necessary documents, including the consent form for privacy information processing,” an applicant was quoted as saying. “The very next day, the company had sent an email explaining that the recruitment plan had been abandoned.”

He went on to say, “If such irresponsible behavior is not adequately pointed out, other companies may feel tempted to do the same.”
