The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will now allow Koreans to get vaccination confirmation documents in English for free online starting next Monday.

“We expect the new step will help reduce the burdens of issuing administrative documents and direct visits of applicants and guardians to public health centers, as they will be able to get English vaccination confirmation documents easily at home and workplaces 365 days a year,” a KCDC official said.

English documents confirming vaccination status is needed for various reasons, including studying abroad. Until now, citizens had to go to public health centers to get the documents. About 40,000 people go to health centers a year to obtain them.

The online system helps reduce the effort and time of people going to the public healthcare center while also reducing the labor required at these centers, the KCDC said.

People can now get the documents for free by making an account and entering the necessary information. They can view issued certificates for 90 days after the initial publishing date.
