Flu Fast

Boryung BioPharm said Thursday it launched its rapid diagnostic kit for the flu, called the “Flu Fast.”

Flu Fast is a device that collects specimens from patients with influenza symptoms and identifies influenza types A and B using the immunochromatography method.

Immunochromatography is an antigen detection based on an indirect fluorescence method detecting an antibody that specifically reacts with a particular antigen present in an antibody-producing cell or tissue slice sample in an immunoassay.

The Flu Fast kit allows users to distinguish between type A and B influenza visually with red and blue color-coded beads. Identification generally takes about three to 10 minutes but can take less than 30 seconds to find strongly positive specimens,

Notably, the use of cotton swabs makes it easier to sample pediatric specimens. The firm said it also modified the solution tube, which was inconvenient to use, making it possible to identify influenza more easily.

The Flu Fast can also detect a large number of influenza A and B strains and has the characteristics of high sensitivity to real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR), a laboratory technique of molecular biology based on the polymerase chain reaction.

"The high-performing, convenient diagnostic kit that can accurately and quickly identify influenza infections will further enhance the convenience of prescribers and patients,” a Boryung BioPharm official said. “We will improve the quality of life of patients through the influenza lineup from diagnosis kits to vaccines and remedies.”

Boryung has an extensive influenza vaccine lineup, including trivalent vaccines Boryung Flu Vaccine V and Boryung Flu Vaccine VIII-TF injection, quadrivalent vaccines Boryung Flu V Tetra Vaccine injection, and Boryung Flu VIII Tetra Vaccine injection.
