Merz said its botulinum toxin product Xeomin showed the lowest level of inactivated neurotoxins, known as one of the causes of antibody formation, in a study that compared five botulinum toxins.

The study measured the levels of neurotoxins in five products, based on 100 units per vial.

The results showed that the five treatments contained different levels of inactivated neurotoxins, with Xeomin having the least with 416 pg of inactive neurotoxin.

Merz emphasized that Xeomin has proven to have few side effects from antibody formation in the use of botulinum toxin, which is repeatedly administered.

The paper has been published on the 11th volume of Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology.

Xeomin is a product without complex proteins. It is the only botulinum toxin in Korea that has indications for three parts – wrinkles between eyebrows, wrinkles in eye rims, and wrinkles on the forehead.
