The establishment of the National Children’s Hospital in Uzbekistan is an international development cooperation project supported by KOFIH and the Export-Import Bank of Korea started in 2014. The project will end in 2020.

Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital conducted initial work such as hospital planning from 2014 to 2015. At that time, the hospital sent Professor Jung Goo-young of the department of emergency medicine to act as an advisor.

Although Uzbekistan has a lot of congenital diseases, the country’s treatment level is weak, and it leads to serious health problems, EWUMC said in a news release. It is essential, therefore, to improve the nation’s surgical cure ability of congenital diseases such as congenital heart disease and urological disease, it added.

“Based on the successful experience of opening Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, EWUMC will provide Uzbekistan’s National Children’s Hospital with various clinicians and hospital administration experts for the next two years,” Professor Jung said. “We will do our best to have the National Children’s Hospital as a hospital that provides pediatric treatment in Uzbekistan.”
