Medibloc said that it has agreed with Severance Hospital to establish a blockchain-based medical information platform.

Through the integrated medical information platform based on blockchain, both sides will build and utilize insurance claim billing platform, medical data forgery detection system, certificate document issuance system and e-card issuance system for patients, it said. The two institutions will also cooperate actively by jointly utilizing their facilities, human resources, and cooperation networks.

According to a news release, Severance Hospital, which is leading precision medicine, has a keen interest in digital medical platforms. To perform precision medicine, there is a need to integrate a platform for collecting and utilizing patients' medical information safely, it added.

Severance Hospital and Medibloc have been working to help patients securely collect, manage, and use their medical information, it said.

"We are delighted to build a patient-centered platform with MediBloc, which is leading the blockchain-based medical information platform," Severance Hospital General Director Lee Byung-seok said. "By working with MediBloc, we will be able to provide personalized medicine and digital healthcare to patients at Severance Hospital through the establishment of an integrated medical information system."

Medibloc Co-CEO Allen Kho also said, "We will conduct comprehensive consultation to build patient-oriented integrated medical information platform."

The company also plans to create a model for the medical information ecosystem by expanding the scope of the business so that patients can collect, manage, and utilize medical information securely, Kho added.
