Sanofi Aventis said that it has appointed Fabien Schmitt as the general manager of its consumer healthcare unit. Schmitt started working as the new general manager of the division on July 1.

Before joining Sanofi in 2006, Schmitt worked at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC), a global accounting firm. He moved to Asia in 2010 and became head of finance for Sanofi’s CHC ASEAN in 2016. A year later, Schmitt rose to the position of the head of finance at CHC International, covering about 90 countries, including Korea.

“With his abundant experience in and understanding of the Asian market, Schmitt has successfully led business development projects and integrated business units,” the company said. “Sanofi expects that Schmitt’s appointment will accelerate the innovation that Sanofi has pursued in the consumer healthcare field in Korea as well as increase its contributions to the Korean consumer healthcare industry.”

Schmitt said, “I’m glad to have the opportunity to pursue Sanofi’s corporate vision, ‘A Healthy Journey Partner,’ and to leverage touchpoints with consumers. Through providing Sanofi’s self-care solutions, I hope to serve Korean consumers in living healthier fuller live.”

Sanofi CHC said it offers self-care solutions to help consumers around the world manage their health. It has contributed to creating a healthy society through global brands preferred by consumers in Korea, including health functioning food such as Cenovis and Dulcofiber, and other OTC products, such as Dulcolax for laxative tablets for constipation and Buscopan Plus for relieving the pain of stomach cramps.
