GC Pharma said Green Cross America (GCAM), its U.S. branch to secure plasma, has recently established a new plasma collection center in Edinburgh, Texas.

The new plasma center can secure up to 50,000 liters of plasma annually. GC Pharma now operates 12 plasma centers, including the latest. The company can now be provided with up to 650,000 liters of quality source plasma each year.

Securing plasma-derived products, which can be made by separating necessary components with high purity from plasma, requires a stable supply of source plasma, the company said.

GC Pharma has been steadily adding plasma centers since the establishment of GCAM in 2009. Last year, GC Pharma opened another plasma center in Texas and one in California.

"GC Pharma is preparing to open additional plasma collection facilities under a mid- to long-term plan because securing stable plasma supply is the basis for entering the North American plasma-derived product market," GCAM CEO Park Sung-ick said. "GC Pharma is preparing to add two more plasma centers this year."
