The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Tuesday that it has confirmed the 16th coronavirus patient. The new patient is a Korean woman, 42, who arrived in the nation on Jan. 19 after traveling to Thailand.

“The patient started having symptoms, including chills, from Jan. 25, and when the symptoms did not improve, she came in for a treatment at Chonnam National University Hospital on Monday,” the KCDC said. “After taking quarantine measures to exclude any possible infections, a test conducted by the Gwangju Institute of Health and Environment confirmed that she tested positive for the virus on Tuesday morning.

KCDC said it is conducting an epidemiological investigation of the newly confirmed patient and will announce its results as soon as possible.
