The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said on Friday that it has confirmed the 24th new coronavirus patient.

The 24th confirmed patient is a Korean man, 28, whom the government evacuated out of Wuhan, the epicenter of the current outbreak, along with 368 Koreans in the first chartered plane last Friday. According to the KCDC, the man was initially moved to a makeshift quarantine shelter in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, as he showed no symptoms upon arrival.

"However, the men reported having a sore throat and tested positive for the new coronavirus," the agency said. "He has been transported to the National Medical Center in Seoul and quarantined."

The patient is the second Wuhan evacuee to be confirmed to have the new coronavirus. The man is reportedly a co-worker of the 13th patient, whom the government confirmed of having the virus last Sunday. The 13th patient is also a Wuhan evacuee.

All the citizens in the living in the government's quarantine facilities initially tested negative after returning home. Still, the agency plans to monitor them more closely than before, as the most recent patient tested positive despite initially testing negative. Each evacuee is living in his or her rooms and is checked twice a day.

During a daily briefing, the KCDC also released the epidemiological survey results of the 23rd confirmed patient.

"The patient checked out of the President Hotel, located in Jung-gu, central Seoul, at noon on Sunday, and visited the main branch of the Lotte Department Store in the vicinity and E-mart in Mapo-gu before going to back to her lodging facility," the KCDC said. "From Monday to Wednesday, however, the patient did not go out from her lodging facility and was transferred to the National Medical Center on Thursday."
