Solgent, a diagnostic equipment maker, will export COVID-19 kits that can diagnose 100,000 people to Ukraine.

Genetic precision medicine company Eone Diagnomics Genome Center (EDGC) said Friday that its subsidiary, Solgent, would make the shipment at the request of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

According to EDGC, the Ukrainian government, which recently announced a state of emergency against COVID-19, compared diagnostic kits of several countries and decided to import Solgent’s DiaPlexQ Novel Coronavirus urgently, as the Kiev government saw it superior to others.

Ukraine’s presidential office and Ukrainian Ambassador to Seoul, Alexander Horin, made an emergency request for kits’ shipment last Sunday, the company said.

To contaminate new coronavirus, the Ukrainian government decided to close malls, cafés, restaurants, and sports and recreational facilities by April 24. It also blocked the traffic between Kiev and other cities, while prohibiting all passenger traffic inside the capital city.

“We are receiving many government-level requests for exporting test kits, including Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal, Denmark, Finland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Austria, Russia, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Iraq, Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Guam, India, and Nigeria,” Solgent CEO Yoo Jae-hyung said. “The U.S. has allowed state governments to supply diagnostic kits through EDGC’s network.”

DiaplexQ, developed by Solgent, is a real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) diagnostic kit that amplifies and diagnoses a specific gene sequence of the COVID-19 virus.

The company has obtained approval for its emergency use and export from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. It also won sales approval from Conformite Europeen, the Philippines, and Thailand.
