Seoul Clinical Laboratories (SCL), an organization specializing in diagnostic tests, said Monday that its educational institute, SCL Academy, has provided training for Indonesian workers to help them conduct Covbid-19 and other molecular tests.

SCL Academy offered the training program at Kemayoran Hospital, a Covid-19 emergency hospital in Jakarta, for two weeks last month, transferring know-how to 20 Indonesian trainees.

Seoul Clinical Laboratories' employees educate Indonesian trainees in Kemeyoran Hospital, Jakarta, on molecular diagnostic techniques, including the Covid-19 test.

The trainees received education on the entire process of the Covid-19 test, which progressed through real-time polymerase chain reaction with the process of nucleic acid extraction and amplification.

Before the education, the average number of daily tests at the Kemayoran hospital was below 30. After the training, the hospital showed a significant improvement in testing skills in a short period, carrying out about 300 cases a day, SCL said in a news release.

The tech transfer was made at the request of the Indonesian government.

"We are proud to help a foreign country based on advanced diagnostic technology amid the global turmoil caused by the Covid-19 pandemic," SCL President Lee Kwan-soo said. "The commissioned training was another opportunity to prove the excellence of the Korean quarantine system."
