The Korean Medical Association (KMA) decided on Wednesday to recognize doctors’ winning credits from both online and offline training.

KMA set up an in-house group to implement and assess physicians’ on-the-job training in 2014. The group has since continuously managed offline training to improve its members' training and education.

Due to the prolonged Covid-19 pandemic, however, most of its training programs scheduled for 2020 have been canceled, causing difficulty for members to meet the training credit requirements this year.

"We have decided to temporarily recognize the institution's online training education until June 30, 2021," said Park Jung-yul, head of the training and evaluation group. The KMA education center will also allow doctors to acquire a total of eight credits through online courses in a year.

KMA will notify the changed rule to 335 member institutions, saying that its members should complete at least one hour of the online session to receive one credit point while recommending the use of the e-test.
