The Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (KSPRS) will hold this year's annual conference, "PRS KOREA 2020," from Nov. 13-15.

PRS KOREA, the largest academic event on plastic surgery hosted by the society, used to be held as face-to-face meetings, but the association decided to switch to the online conference because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

KSPRS said the society is preparing for PRS KOREA 2020 based on its experience of providing online services, including its second training course and R&R Forum held in July.

This year’s event will be held side by side with the 23rd Scientific Meeting of the Korean Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (KCPCA), Seoul Rhinoplasticy Forum 2020, 4th Asian Forum for Fat and Stem Cells, Seoul Breast Meeting 2020, Botulinum Toxin-Filler-Thread Academic Association, and Korean Academic Association of Plastic Surgery Research.

The plastic surgeon society has staged academic activities by holding conferences and publishing abstract collections since its foundation in 1966.

The PRS KOREA conference uses English in almost all the sessions as it had grown from an international academic event in 2011 to a conference on the 50th anniversary in 2016. More than 1,000 global and local plastic surgeons have completed registrations to participate in the forum.

The organizers have prepared more than 100 sub-sessions under the theme "Way to Innovation" for PRS Korea 2020.

Five of the 15 research groups affiliated with the KCPCA and KSPRS have joined and completed each session with various in-depth programs.

KSPRS has arranged sessions by considering the time difference to allow speakers to give presentations during their office hours via video conference as the nation has restricted foreign people from entering.

The association has decided to review considerations that plastic surgeons must have them down amid the Covid-19 pandemic through a special safety and treatment session.

The society said PRS KOREA 2020 is expected to serve as an opportunity to introduce a new type of international conference required in the new normal era, just as the theme of the conference Way to Innovation.

KSPRS strives to provide domestic and international plastic surgeons a place to exchange information about Korean plastic surgery clinics' academic achievements and the latest global trend, it added.

The society has been working with plastic surgeons’ groups around the world. It has signed a business agreement with plastic surgery associations in the U.S., Japan, Taiwan, Canada, Thailand, and Indonesia.
