Seoul National University Children's Hospital said that Jungkook, a member of the K-pop boy group BTS, donated 1 billion won ($758,782) to the hospital.

The hospital plans to use the donation for medical treatment for children from low-income families and for its Integrated Care Center project.

Seoul National University Children's Hospital specializes in treating severe, rare, and incurable diseases, childhood cancer, and leukemia for children from across the country.

The hospital noted that the treatment process can be extremely taxing for patients and their families, involving numerous life-or-death treatments and surgeries.

This can have a significant impact on children, potentially affecting their future and hindering their ability to become fully functional members of society, the hospital said.

To overcome this, Seoul National University Children's Hospital operates an integrated care center to realize integrated care that not only treats the child's illness but also helps the child recover holistically.

The center actively supports patients and their families with teaching and education, counseling, emotional therapy and support activities, events, various healing, and special activity programs.

The center also provides pediatric palliative care services for children and adolescents to resolve difficulties throughout the treatment process and improve their quality of life.

However, the hospital emphasized that such integrated care center projects are difficult to maintain without sponsorship.

Under these circumstances, the hospital explained that BTS Jungkook's donation would come as a great comfort to the patients and their families.

"I hope to make a small contribution to the children who are suffering from illnesses and bring a smile to their faces," Jungkook said in a statement.
