GE Healthcare Korea said Monday that it would formally launch Mural, a remote monitoring solution with an integrated data of infected, severe, and emergency patients.

Mural, which is making a debut in Korea for the second time in the world after the United States earlier the year, will provide a fundamental alternative to a remote monitoring solution.

Mural provides real-time and integrated data, such as basic vital signs, electrocardiogram, and picture archiving and communication system (PACS) of patients collected from various medical devices. The solution helps medical workers remotely monitor infected, severe, and emergency patients in the departments of a hospital or among several hospitals.

It also provides clinical decision support based on hospitals' clinical standards and protocols, helping medical staff perform timely and optimal treatment.

GE Healthcare said Mural gives a proactive solution that can prevent infectious diseases in advance by updating and visualizing patients' clinical data in real-time. It also provides integrated clinical data not only in medical space such as emergency rooms, intensive care units, and isolation wards but also in remote monitoring of patients' data and diagnostic image access.

Healthcare providers can use the protocol for treating Covid-19 patients with preemptive therapy before entering the negative pressure rooms with the solution, the company added.

"Hospitals and medical teams are experiencing an unprecedented sense of burdens and difficulties, as the demand for treating Covid-19 patients has spiked,” CEO Kang Sung-wook said. “We are speeding up technological developments to help medical personnel provide safe and efficient therapy while supplying medical devices to fight the Covid-19 pandemic."

Kang added that the company would contribute to upgrading Korea's virus-preventive measures by presenting remote monitoring solutions as an alternative.
