Myongji Hospital on Thursday held an opening ceremony for its intervention center focused on conducting angiography, a type of X-ray to check blood vessels.

Myongji Hospital Chairman Lee Wang-jun (eighth from left among those in white gowns) cuts the ribbon with other hospital staff to celebrate the opening of the angiography intervention center within the hospital’s complex in Goyang, north of Seoul, on Wednesday.

The intervention center, which opened on the third floor of the hospital building D, gathered various angiography equipment, including the latest low-dose and high-definition cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) angiography equipment, in one place.

With the opening of this new center, Myongji Hospital improved the diagnosis rate of vascular diseases in various organs and strengthened treatment expertise, the hospital said.

As the intervention center is located on the third floor, where the hospital’s operating rooms are located, the hospital can respond quickly in case of an emergency.

The newly introduced Artis Zee Ceiling system from Siemens is a low-dose and high-definition CBCT that can distinguish even minute lesions that were previously invisible by providing a four times higher resolution than previous devices.

“Through the opening of the intervention center built with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, we will perform professional and high-quality vascular disease examinations and interventional procedures,” said Professor Kim Hyun-beom, the first director of the intervention center.

Myongji Hospital President Kim Jin-goo also said, “Myongji Hospital is making great investments and efforts to improve the quality of medical care by recruiting excellent medical staff, strengthening research capabilities, and introducing the latest medical equipment.”

The hospital will establish itself as a leading hospital in the post-Covid-19 era by improving qualitative competitiveness and clinical capabilities, Lee added.
