EDGC to launch urinary diagnostic for home-based healthcare
Eone Diagnomics Genome Center (EDGC), a company specializing in genome analysis, said on Wednesday that it will launch its smart wellness tracker service, Uriwell, for home-based healthcare monitoring in the first half of the year.
According to the company, the Uriwell service is a personalized urine kit that can be easily conducted at home and the results can be checked directly through a dedicated smartphone app.
It checks glucose, pH, protein, and occult blood in urine to identify abnormalities such as kidney disease, urinary tract disease, diabetes, and overwork to provide various customized solutions such as health-related precautions and real-time customized nutrient evaluation.
As an in vitro diagnostic medical device certified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the urine test utilizes a colorimetric assay that changes color when the urine comes into contact with the test paper.
The company explained that Uriwell takes colorimetric results with a dedicated app, analyzes the results accurately and quickly through internal algorithms, and checks the comprehensive results on mobile, improving user convenience.
In comparison, they emphasized the manual analysis with the naked eye as required from existing products could result in inaccuracies, the company added.
Accordingly, EDGC is planning various smart medical services that incorporate IT, starting with the Uriwell service. Based on the data obtained through the existing genome analysis business, it plans to provide customized integrated health solutions that combine genetic data to launch its digital healthcare business in earnest.
"With the development of home-based smart medical services such as Uriwell, anyone can easily manage their health at home," an official from EDGC said. "We plan to lead the healthcare market by expanding smart medical services and providing customized healthcare solutions based on genetic data."
