Seegene, Microsoft collaborate to advance molecular diagnostics solutions
Seegene announced a strategic collaboration with Microsoft to advance molecular diagnostics solutions to better diagnose and treat diseases.
Under the accord, Seegene and Microsoft's Global Healthcare Team will jointly participate in annual symposiums for technology-sharing, connect with current and potential partners, and host a declaration ceremony in the first half of this year to celebrate their shared vision.
Seegene plans to share its proprietary Syndromic Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology with leading companies worldwide, aiming to foster industry-wide innovation in molecular diagnostics. This technology-sharing initiative is expected to contribute to the development of optimal solutions globally and prepare for future pandemics.
The partnership will see Seegene working closely with Microsoft's Global Healthcare Team. This collaboration includes joint participation in annual symposiums related to the technology-sharing project and connecting with both current and potential partners. A declaration ceremony is also planned for the first half of the year to mark the collaboration.
Seegene's technology-sharing project is part of its global strategy to combat diseases. Through this initiative, scientists and experts globally can use Seegene's Developer Automated System (SGDDS) to develop diagnostic reagents for various human, animal, and plant diseases.
Seegene aims to establish a global consortium with over 100 companies to share its PCR technology, with these partners handling local product development, production, and sales.
The collaboration will integrate Microsoft Azure, including Azure OpenAI Service, into Seegene's SGDDS.
The data generated will support interactive data analysis and management environments for researchers, providing a trusted research environment (TRE). This aims to protect sensitive personal data and ensure compliance with information regulations across countries.
Seegene is also set to adopt Microsoft Fabric, an AI-based unified analytics platform that enables capabilities in data integration, engineering, science, monitoring, real-time analysis, and business intelligence. The company will use Copilot for Microsoft 365 to enhance productivity and creativity through integrated AI-based services.
"Through our strategic collaboration with Microsoft, we will be able to establish a more systematic technology-sharing business model," Seegene CEO Chun Jong-yoon said. "We expect the synergy from the cooperation between the two companies to pave the way towards a world free from all diseases."
Microsoft's Global Health and Life Sciences Lead Elena Bonfiglioli said, "We support Seegene's vision of a 'world free from all diseases' and will collaborate not only to support Seegene's digital transformation but also to find global partners and strengthen the healthcare ecosystem."
