Nu Eyne to present migraine electroceutical at Bio Korea 2024
Electroceutical maker Nu Eyne said it would participate in BIO KOREA 2024, held at COEX in Seoul from Wednesday to Friday.
Eletroceuticals researched and developed by Nu Eyne consist of wearable products and customized medical devices that allow individuals to self-medicate during daily life.
Nu Eyne has the largest pipeline of electroceuticals in Korea concerning cornea, retina, tinnitus, migraine, facial nerve palsy, ADHD/ASD, overactive bladder, and tumor, and is actively conducting research and development for various indications.
“Elexir,” which will be showcased at the exhibition, is a migraine relief medical device that reduces the frequency and pain of migraine attacks based on neural activity modulation. Applying electrical stimulation to the trigeminal nerve distributed in the forehead inhibits the transmission of pain signals associated with migraines, preventing pain sensation. It also promotes the secretion of serotonin to cause cerebral blood vessel constriction, thereby relieving and preventing migraine symptoms.
Elexir also features two treatment sessions: an acute mode (60 minutes) for use during a migraine attack and a preventive mode (20 minutes) for daily use. A personalized treatment recipe platform for optimal migraine treatment through the app is also developing.
Last year, Nu Eyne also signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Dong-A Pharmaceutical for migraine relief medical devices in Korea.
The eye healthcare product “Cellena” is a wearable wellness device that helps regenerate damaged tissue by activating cells related to eye health. Delivering electrical pulse stimulation to damaged corneal tissue normalizes abnormally active nerves to help manage fundamental eye health.
"We will operate a booth during the exhibition and take pride as an R&D company with the largest pipeline of electroceuticals in Korea, and take the lead in expanding the electroceutical market in the era of healthcare transformation," a Nu Eyne official said.
BIO KOREA 2024, which celebrates its 19th anniversary this year, is organized by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute and North Chungcheong Province.
The event at COEX in Seoul will feature various programs, including business partners, an investment fair, an exhibition, and a conference. Organizers said it would be a place where investors, executives from the bio-industry, and researchers worldwide can share the latest issues and technologies in the health market.
