Young doctors are joining the people. Trainee doctors and medical students have organized a medical volunteer group to work at a rally calling for President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment.

The Emergency Committee of the Korea Intern Resident Association (KIRA) said it will stage medical support activities from 1 to 10 p.m. on Saturday in front of Entrance 6 of Yeouido Park, near the National Assembly.

KIRA’s medical support group will consist of about 10 resigned trainee doctors and medical students who have taken leave of absence. They will provide first aid and medication, and the Korean Medical Association and the Korean Medical Students Association will provide manpower and supplies.

KIRA also organized and operated a medical support team for five weeks during the 2016 rally in Gwanghwamun Plaza to impeach former President Park Geun-hye.

“As a medical student in 2016, I provided medical support to the Gwanghwamun rally with my seniors,” said Park Dan, chairperson of the committee. “It is regrettable that the unfortunate history of demanding the president's impeachment has repeated itself.”

“As we are concerned about safety accidents due to the large number of people, we are once again providing medical support,” he said. “We will do our best to ensure that the people on the streets can finish the rally safely.”

Park also called for Yoon's impeachment.

“President Yoon's insurgency is a matter requiring the transcendence of partisanship and is a problem faced by all Koreans,” Park said, ”The National Assembly should impeach him as soon as possible and normalize healthcare in Korea.”
