On Wednesday, the Supreme Court dismissed a preliminary injunction filed by examinees and medical students against the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE), seeking to block the expansion of medical school quotas for the 2025 academic year.

According to legal industry sources, the Supreme Court's second division recently ruled to dismiss a lawsuit seeking a political preliminary injunction against the KCUE, filed by eight examinees and first-year medical students.

Earlier, in June, the eight students filed a preliminary injunction against the KCUE to block the increase in medical school seats. The case was dismissed by both the first and second courts, but the applicants appealed to the Supreme Court on August 29.

The medical community has been urging the Supreme Court to reach a decision promptly.
