KHIDI to help medical institutions attract foreign patients using AI
The Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) said Wednesday that it will launch a support project to help medical institutions attract foreign patients by producing global promotional videos using AI technology.
This project was designed to distribute overseas promotional content essential for the global marketing of medical institutions, aiming to attract new foreign patients. The video production will use AI technologies, including foreign language text-to-speech (TTS), automatic subtitle generation, and lip-syncing.
Eligible institutions are hospitals that have newly registered to attract foreign patients between 2023 and 2024. KHIDI plans to select about 10 medical institutions and support the production of their promotional videos.
Selected medical institutions can choose between “institutional promotional content” or “medical treatment information support content.” The promotional videos will be produced in English, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, and Mongolian, with a maximum of three languages per institution, and can be used autonomously.
Institutional promotion content includes hospital introduction, medical staff introduction, specialized medical services, medical procedures, pre- and post-treatment precautions, and follow-up care methods.
“This project is a meaningful attempt to actively utilize AI technology in foreign patient attraction projects to provide customized promotional support for each medical institution,” said Hong Seung-wook, director of the Foreign Patient Attraction Team at KHIDI. “KHIDI will continue to actively support overseas promotion that reflects the latest promotional trends.”
Applications for the program can be submitted via email until next Wednesday, and selected institutions will receive support for the production of promotional videos until the end of November.
