Seonam Hospital tapped for government project to boost secondary emergency care
The Seoul Metropolitan Government Seonam Hospital has been selected as a recipient of the Ministry of Health and Welfare's “Comprehensive Secondary General Hospital Support Project.”
This project aims to strengthen the comprehensive medical capabilities of general hospitals and normalize the medical delivery system.
Seonam Hospital, the regional medical center for the southwestern part of Seoul, plans to use this project to expand its comprehensive medical capabilities. In particular, it aims to strengthen emergency care capabilities, creating an environment where residents do not have to travel to distant tertiary hospitals in the event of an emergency in the region.
Seonam Hospital has strengthened essential medical care in the region through the following initiatives: Establishing the Seonam Health Safety Network; achieving the highest A grade from the Ministry of Health and Welfare as a regional emergency medical institution; cooperating in the transfer and treatment of severely ill emergency patients, conducting the Seoul Southwest Region Infection Management Network Project; carrying out the Community Linkage Project for Discharged Patients; conducting free health checkup project for vulnerable groups (North Korean defectors, people with disabilities, multicultural families, and others: educating to strengthen the capabilities of regional healthcare workers; and carrying out Primary Care Cooperation Project.
As a result, it has been selected as the best institution for seven consecutive years in the evaluation of the implementation of the public health care plan administered by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
“Along with being selected for the Comprehensive Secondary General Hospital Support Project, the facility expansion and space improvement remodeling project that began in April marks the start of a new leap forward,” said Pyo Chang-hae, director of Seonam Hospital. “We expect to establish ourselves as a core public hospital leading public healthcare in Seoul beyond the capital city’s southwest region by 2027.”
