SMC Professor Jeon Hong-jin gets Prime Minister’s commendation

Professor Jeon Hong-jin of the Department of Psychiatry at Samsung Medical Center (SMC) received the Prime Minister's Commendation.

Samsung Medical Center said Professor Jeon was awarded the Prime Minister's Commendation at the 18th Dementia Awareness Day Commemorative Event held on Tuesday in recognition of his contributions to dementia prevention.

Professor Jeon has been dedicated to clinical practice and research at the Department of Psychiatry at SMC since 2008. He was recognized for his contributions to advancing research in the fields of dementia, depression, and suicide prevention.

Jeon currently serves as the Director of the Digital Therapeutics Research Center at SMC and as the Vice Dean for Research at Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine. He has held executive positions in major academic societies, including the Korean Association for Geriatric Psychiatry and the Korean Society of Biological Psychiatry.

Jeon previously received the Prime Minister's Commendation on Health Day in 2020 for his research on suicide prevention, followed by the Minister of Health and Welfare's Commendation on Suicide Prevention Day. This award marks his third government commendation in the field of mental health.
