Yuyu Healthcare begins 2nd plant construction to expand health-food production capacity
Yuyu Healthcare has commenced construction of its second factory in Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon Province, with an annual production capacity valued at 20 billion won ($13.5 million).
This milestone follows the completion of Yuyu Healthcare's first factory in 2020, which has an annual production capacity of 50 billion won.
The second factory will be built on a 7,061-square-meter site within the 17,922㎡ Ucheon General Industrial Complex, located in Sanghagari, Ucheon-myeon, Hoengseong-gun, in Gangwon Province. The facility will house production equipment for soft capsules and liquid-form health functional foods.
Upon completion of the second plant, which is being built with an investment of 17.5 billion won, the combined capacity of both plants will reach an annual output of 70 billion won worth of health functional foods. Including the first plant, 135 local employees will work at Yuyu Healthcare's Hoengseong plant, leveraging the solid dosage form production lines (such as tablets) from the first facility.
“Based on our enhanced production competitiveness, we will lead the industry by keeping pace with the sustained growth of the health functional food sector,” Yuyu Healthcare CEO Yu Kyung-soo said. “We will fulfill our corporate social responsibility by establishing a virtuous cycle structure that creates local jobs and revitalizes the industrial ecosystem.”
In July, Yuyu Healthcare was selected as a “Century-Old Enterprise” poised to lead the future of Gangwon Province's economy. The Century-Old Enterprise designation, awarded by Gangwon Province, recognizes long-standing companies that serve as models for regional development, grounded in consistent management philosophy and social responsibility. Recipients receive benefits including preferential treatment for SME development fund limits, support for competitiveness enhancement projects, deferred local tax audits, and preferential participation in projects by agencies such as the Gangwon Economic Promotion Agency.
