Organon has been reborn as a global healthcare company focusing on women, according to its local offshoot, Organon Korea.

Organon Korea, as a local offshoot of Organon, has prepared for the shift since February. “Based on market-leading products treating chronic diseases, including cardiovascular, respiratory, dermatology, and musculoskeletal systems, the company will speed up to become a healthcare company that provides solutions focusing on women's health,” it said.

Organon has more than 60 medicines and products globally that serve people in more than 140 countries, and about 80 percent of its $6.5 billion annual revenue is generated outside the U.S.

Organon plans to focus on developing drugs for diseases that significantly affect females and health issues unique to women by identifying the needs that have not been met yet, along with pregnancy and childbirth, according to Organon Korea.

It added that Organon would look for new partners for developing and commercializing biosimilars to expand its business portfolio.

"Organon Korea's portfolio is committed for continuous growth based on our drugs that have been trusted with leadership in treating various chronic diseases, including the cardiovascular system," Organon Korea CEO Kim So-eun said. "We plan to increase our contribution to society by paying attention to the women's needs for their health and provide various women-specific healthcare solutions by presenting a new concept of female health issues through an approach that encompasses their entire life cycle."

Sandy Milligan, head of research and development at Organon, said, "Women have for too long been told to accept and normalize various common conditions, including heavy, painful, and irregular menstrual bleeding, as part of their life."

Milligan added that Organon's mission is to change the existing concept, promote and discover the ability to identify diseases early, and improve the courses and healthcare conditions, which could ultimately improve women's quality of life at all stages.
