GSK Korea has temporarily suspended the supply of eight vaccines due to misalignment in their technical documentation.

The eight vaccines are Rotarix (rotavirus vaccine), Synflorix (pneumococcal vaccine), Menveo (meningococcal vaccine), Havrix (hepatitis A vaccine), Priorix (measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine), Boostrix (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis vaccine), and Infanrix IPV and Infanrix IPV Hib (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis vaccine.

"In the process of checking the registration details of the company's vaccines supplied to Korea, the company found some misalignment in the technical document," a company official told Korea Biomedical Review on Tuesday. "As such, we stopped any additional imports and shipments of these products."

The official stressed that the issue is only a documentary error and does not affect the safety, quality, characteristics, purity, or efficacy.

"We are working to solve this problem and establishing follow-up measures to prevent similar incidents," the official said. "The company is doing its best to resume supply of the eight vaccines, expecting to resume their supply in the second quarter of next year."

However, all suspended vaccines except for Rotarix are included in the national vaccination program, confusing local hospitals and clinics. Alternative products of other pharmaceutical companies exist, but most of the suspended vaccines require multiple doses. In principle, according to experts, when receiving a multi-dose vaccine, patients need to receive vaccines from the same manufacturer.
