Moderna Korea said that it has appointed Sohn Ji-young as its first general manager.

Sohn will form a team to lead Moderna's business in Korea. The recruitment process for new employees is going on, and the company plans to establish its Korean office in Seoul.

According to the company, Sohn is a pharmaceutical industry expert with more than 20 years of experience in global pharmaceutical companies. 

Sohn started her career in the pharmaceutical industry at Pfizer Korea and moved to Roche Korea and Roche headquarters. Before joining Moderna Korea, she worked as the CEO of CSL Behring Korea and led the establishment of the company and the launch of new products.

"I am delighted to join the company at a time when Moderna is experiencing incredible growth," Sohn said. "Korea is a very important market for Moderna. The company has already established various strategic relationships and is making significant investments."

Moderna will strive to establish key relationships in introducing its mRNA science and technology to Korea, raise the trust of stakeholders, and promote Korean people's health and treatment through Moderna's excellent vaccines and future treatments, she added.

Moderna's Senior Vice President Patrick Bergstedt said, "We are delighted that Sohn will lead the Korean branch."

Sohn is regarded as an innovative and strategic leader in the Korean and global markets. The company looks forward to working with her to strengthen the company's presence in Korea, Bergstedt added.
