In November, Meta-K Intelligence signed an MOU with the Korean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry to provide various non-face-to-face treatments and offer medical tourism opportunities and personalized health management services to Koreans living in America.

Under the accord, Life Semantics will exclusively provide “Dr. Call” service, its non-face-to-face treatment platform, to 2.5 million Koreans experiencing health problems due to linguistic and cultural differences.

If their U.S. venture proves successful, the two companies will expand the business model to Koreans living in other countries and promote technology development and government tasks linked to Metaverse.

"The Dr. Call service provided to Koreans in the U.S. will be another example of non-face-to-face treatment," said Kim Soo-man, leader of Life Semantics’ Dr. Call service task force. "We will focus more on advancing digital health care services to enhance the user experience by building global infrastructure in countries around the world, starting with the United States."

Dr. Call is the first non-face-to-face treatment platform in Korea to receive temporary permission for overseas Koreans in June 2020. It provided the first treatment last June after signing up for insurance. Now, the company is expanding its service to overseas Koreans.

Under the system, Dr. Call service delivers the patient's basic health information data and makes a reservation, and medical professionals in Korean tertiary hospitals provide video treatment, online consultation, and second opinion services, quickly addressing medical inquiries from overseas Koreans.

The hospital receives patients’ sensitive personal information and integrates it with LifeRecord, Life Semantics' Personal Health Record (PHR) commercialization platform. LifeRecord has acquired the ISMS-P (Personal Information and Information Security Management System) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) conformity certification under the U.S. Medical Information Protection Act and possesses high-security technology globally.

If necessary, the system can also provide artificial intelligence treatment solutions after consultation with relevant agencies, the company added.
