Kukje Pharma said Thursday it rolled out Kukje Hyal Inj. (ingredient: sodium hyaluronate), treatment for knee arthritis and frozen shoulder.

The treatment comes in a pre-filled syringe, administered to the intra-knee joint or shoulder joint for five consecutive weeks.

The company said the product has a high affinity for cartilage tissue and an excellent effect of relieving joint pain.

Because Kukje Hyal uses hyaluronic acid synthesized by microbial fermentation, it has less protein than existing raw materials derived from a chicken comb, the company said. Also, this makes fewer antigen reactions and higher purity, it added.

“With the release of Kukje Hyal, we can provide various treatment and management methods together with the existing three-week Hyaluronate Joint Injection,” an official at Kukje Pharma said. “Enhanced product portfolio will contribute to improving quality of life of increasing osteoarthritis patients.”
