International and Korean health experts will gather in Seoul this month to find ways to enhance the quality of data-driven healthcare, the health insurance review agency said.

The Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) said it would host the “2022 International Symposium” to discuss how to build a data system for better healthcare at the GS Tower in southern Seoul on Aug. 30.

HIRA has been hosting the international symposium since 2005 to exchange expert opinions on healthcare policies.

This year, in particular, the event will be held offline after three years of online symposiums amid Covid-19 so that public health experts and participants could actively communicate at the site, HIRA said.

The upcoming symposium will focus on the direction of quality control in data-driven healthcare in major advanced countries and the international community, as people are increasingly noticing the importance of the use of public health data.

The first session will provide examples of public health data sharing in Denmark and the U.K., and introduce HIRA’s data-driven Covid-19 response.

The second session will discuss the international community’s healthcare quality management, tasks, and improvement plans. Global organizations such as the WHO, the OECD, and the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) will give presentations, too.
