Lululab said the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) has selected the company’s AI-based skin-specialized remote treatment technology as its “2022 IP-R&D strategic support project” in the biopharmaceutical sector.

The KIPO’s IP project supports a customized and close patent strategy linking intellectual property rights (IP) and R&D to preoccupy core and original patents, foster global companies armed with strong patents, and enhance national competitiveness.

The state patent agency will provide various support to companies selected for the project, ranging from patent and thesis analysis data to environmental analysis data, key patent summary list, core patent response strategy report, intellectual property portfolio, promising R&D task deduction, and analysis patent database, according to Lululab.

The company said it would analyze the AI-based skin-specialized telemedicine market and establish R&D directions for skin disease diagnosis and predictive technology development to accelerate its advancement into the software medical device market.

“Applications related to skin diagnosis and analysis using artificial intelligence have been increasing rapidly since 2016,” a Lululab official said. “However, as the number of applications by top applicants is around 10, it is necessary to preempt the market by securing high-quality patents.”

Lululab will strengthen technological competitiveness and lay the foundation for innovative growth in new industries by preempting core and source patents based on the high-quality database acquired through task execution.
