Merck Korea, a leading science and technology company, said on Thursday that it appointed Christoph Hamann as general manager of Merck Biopharma Korea.

Hamann previously served as managing director of Malaysia and general manager of Merck Biopharma in Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei.

Since joining Merck in 2009, he has built various careers through strategic and commercial work in major markets such as Germany, Switzerland, and the United States.

In particular, he showed excellent performance as a regional franchise leader in Europe and Canada and also played an important role in business development and management at the global country level, Merck Korea said.

Including his appointment in Korea, he now has business expertise in a total of seven countries.

With nearly 22 years of experience and expertise in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, Hamann will lead the business unit organization, further strengthening Merck Biopharma Korea's leadership in specialty care, the company said.
