Astellas Korea said it appointed Kim Jun-il, former vice president and head of strategy and operations at Bayer APAC, as its new General Manager (GM).

t is the first time in about six years for Astellas Korea to have a Korean GM since the resignation of Jung Hae-do in 2017. 

Astellas' Korean offshoot has been run by foreign management such as its recent GM Markus Weber and previous GMs, such as Takenoya Osamu and Masujima Keita.

Kim graduated from the College of Pharmacy at Chung-Ang University and entered the pharma industry as a salesperson at GSK Korea. He is an industry veteran who has worked at Bayer Philippines, Bayer Korea, Bayer APAC, and Bayer headquarters.

Meanwhile, the ex-GM Markus Weber has been appointed as the GM of Astellas Germany.
