Shin is accused of driving onto a sidewalk and hitting a woman in her 20s near Apgujeong Station on Aug. 2, while under the influence of drugs.

The victim has received several surgeries for severe head and leg injuries but has been pronounced brain dead.

A police investigation has since confirmed that Shin took seven substances including ketamine, diazepam, midazolam, and propofol, based on a National Forensic Service examination.

Shin has since argued that he was prescribed the drugs for therapeutic purposes.

The victim's attorney said his law office has sued a plastic surgeon near Apgujeong Station, who is known to have prescribed narcotic drugs to Shin on the day of the accident, for negligence, aiding and abetting driving under the influence and violating the Narcotics Control Act and the Medical Service Act, on Wednesday.

"The doctor should have considered the fact that Shin would be driving after he left the clinic as Shin had visited the clinic multiple times in the past," said Kwon Na-won, an attorney at Haegwang Law Firm that represents the victim. "The doctor was negligent in allowing Shin to drive when he had a duty to send him home after the drug was out of his system or prevent him from driving."

Kwon also said that his law firm will file another lawsuit against three other unidentified doctors known to have prescribed narcotic drugs to Shin, accusing them of violating the Narcotics Control Act and the Medical Service Act.

Meanwhile, the Seoul Central District Court issued an arrest warrant for Shin last Saturday.

Shin apologized to the victim and reporters as he left his arrest warrant hearing on Saturday.
