Korea University Anam Hospital won a KOICA project to enhance National Pediatric Hospital Cambodia's treatment capabilities.

The project, set to span 51 months from October 2023 to December 2027, will concentrate on the construction of a new medical ward building, supply of medical equipment, establishment of a children's hospital operating system, and enhancement of local healthcare professionals' capabilities through the dispatch of Korean medical specialists.

The National Pediatric Hospital Cambodia, located in Phnom Penh, underwent facility improvements from 2013 to 2018 but has faced limitations in providing high-quality medical services due to the distribution of various clinical departments and facilities across 14 buildings.

KUAH is preparing to dispatch a team of specialists in various fields, including medical practice, hospital management, medical equipment, and architectural design, to support the establishment and operation of a Korean-style children's hospital system in Cambodia.

"With pride and dedication, we will undertake this capacity enhancement project at the Cambodia National Pediatric Hospital, which will be responsible for the health of Cambodia's future generations," KUAH President Hahn Seung-beom said.

Since launching its social contribution service department in May 2021, KUMC has been engaged in multiple global medical support projects.

These include consultancy for the establishment of the Fiji National Rehabilitation Center, research on healthcare ODA projects in four Latin American countries, consultancy for the Hospital Central De Quelimane in Mozambique, the project for the prevention of blindness in Madagascar, and the final evaluation of the project to strengthen the medical device management and operation system in Ethiopia.
