Every year, SNUBH publishes the Outcomes Book, which contains data on the status and quality of treatment by disease, the latest treatment trends, and innovative activities at the hospital.

Since becoming the first medical institution in Korea to publish an Outcomes Book in 2018, SNUBH has continued its efforts to implement patient-centered medical care by improving the asymmetry of medical information between healthcare providers and patients, publishing improved quality results every year.

The 2023 Outcomes Book includes 358 indicators in 86 fields, organized into four categories: hospital key management indicators, treatment indicators, quality improvement activities, and adequacy assessment, and all data has been verified as secondary data in line with international standards to ensure high reliability.

In particular, in this Outcomes Book, new indicators were developed, including one indicator for hospital key management and 14 indicators for treatments.

Apart from extensively covered diseases like brain tumors, head and neck cancer, gamma knife, cerebrovascular procedures, and heart failure, previously unavailable data on rare lung diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, and kidney transplantation has been comprehensively incorporated. This ensures that the Outcomes Book provides information that patients both want and need.

Furthermore, in preparation for upgrading the Outcomes Book, SNUBH plans to computerize the indicators in its Outcomes Book for the upgraded version of Outcomes Book in 2024, to build a process where integrated management can lead to quality improvement, rather than just measuring medical quality.

"Since the publication of the first Outcomes Book in Korea in 2018, we have been making continuous efforts to not only disclose medical quality indicators but also to provide a foundation for transparent disclosure of medical information and a culture of medical quality improvement," said Song Jung-han, President of SNUBH. "We will continue to do our best to make the Outcomes Book a milestone in the process of improving the health of patients."

Meanwhile, the publicly released "2023 Outcome Book," along with an English version for foreign patients, can be viewed and downloaded on the official website of SNUBH (http://www.snubh.org/outcomesbook.do).
