Boehringer Ingelheim Korea said it has appointed Ana-Maria Boie as the new general manager (GM) and head of human pharma, effective from Jan. 15.

According to the company, Ana-Maria Boie, the newly appointed GM, has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 24 years and has amassed expertise in management, marketing, sales, and ESG.

She joined Boehringer Ingelheim's Romanian subsidiary as a marketing manager in 2009. Subsequently, she held positions as the national sales manager for Romania, the regional marketing manager for the respiratory business unit in Austria, the GM for Romania, and the director of human pharmaceuticals sales and commercial in Russia.

"Boie has made substantial contributions beyond sales performance, integrating Boehringer Ingelheim's core corporate values into its organizational culture," the company said. "In 2020, she participated in developing the 'Sustainable Development-For Generations (SD4G)' framework, a global core strategy of Boehringer Ingelheim for a sustainable society."

Additionally, in 2021, she was appointed as the business manager for emerging markets at the German headquarters, where she led the development and execution of management strategies across markets in Mexico, Brazil, South America, India, the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, it added.

Boie also said, "I am deeply honored to join the journey of improving the quality of life for humans and animals in Korea, one of Boehringer Ingelheim's key markets, through innovative therapies."

She stressed that she looks forward to growing Boehringer Ingelheim Korea based on its new corporate slogan, "Life Forward," by working with the employees.
