Dongkook Pharmaceutical said Thursday that it has launched Memorain Cap., a memory and concentration enhancer composed of herbal medicine.

According to Dongkook Pharm, Memorain is an herbal complex consisting of 100mg of 40 percent ethanol-dried ginseng and 60mg of ginkgo biloba extract, effectively reducing memory loss while enhancing concentration and attention.

In a clinical study, compared to a placebo group, Memorain improved memory quality in various areas, including working and long-term memory, when administered to healthy middle-aged adults for 12 weeks.

Ethanol dry extract containing 40 percent of ginseng, one of the main ingredients of Memorain, was developed as a pharmaceutical ingredient. According to Dongkook Pharm, various studies have shown that it improves cognitive function and immunity and restores fatigue and mood.

Another main ingredient, ginkgo biloba extract, is a pharmaceutical-grade ingredient known to improve memory, concentration, and circulatory disorders through neuroprotection, free radical scavenging, and platelet-activating factor inhibition.

"According to Statistics Korea, Korea will enter a superaged society in 2025, with one in five citizens aged 65 or older," a Dongkook Pharm official said. "At a time when memory and concentration decline, Memorain can be helpful with its proven effectiveness."

Memorain is available over-the-counter at the local pharmacies without a prescription and is taken twice daily in a capsule. The dye-free capsules in PTP packaging are easy to carry and store, making them safe for consumers, Dongkook Pharm said.
