Merz Aesthetics Korea General Manager Yu Su-yeon gave her greetings at the “MERZ SERENDIPITY JOURNEY Symposium” on Jan. 27.

Merz Aesthetics Korea said it held the “MERZ AESTHETICS SERENDIPITY JOURNEY (MASJ) Symposium” with Korean aesthetic and medical professionals at the InterContinental Seoul COEX on Jan. 27.

The MASJ Symposium is part of the “Beautiful Promise” campaign that Merz has been running with Korean medical professionals since 2021. It is designed to redefine the right definition of aesthetics and build a healthy medical culture together with the medical community, the company said.

This year's theme was “New era of medical aesthetics.” Six speakers shared the values and insights of aesthetics from the humanities, sociology, and clinical fields and discussed the new era of medical aesthetics from the perspectives of various fields surrounding aesthetics and what perspectives are needed for aesthetic professionals.

Dr. Choi Hoon, a professor of cognitive psychology, gave a lecture titled "The Power of Faces Captured by Psychology and Brain Science."

Professor Choi explained various information human faces can reveal from psychological and brain science perspectives. He conveyed the influence of appearance, focusing on how people interpret and react to other people's faces, emphasizing that it should be a priority to realize the value of beauty and pursue it uniquely for oneself rather than being obsessed with fast beauty.

Song Gil-young, author of "Era Forecast: The Age of the Nuclear Individual" and a mind miner, analyzed social big data on Korean women's beauty over the past three years and shared his findings, attracting the attention of the attendees.

Song explained that in the era of nuclear personalization, consumers are now making active choices, suggesting that the role of healthcare providers should change accordingly as consumers' values in the aesthetic industry are more focused on diversity and individualization.

Seo Gu-il, who runs Modelo Dermatology Clinic; Choi Ho-sung of Piena Aesthetic Medical Clinic; Dr. Kim Hyung-moon of Meylin Antiaging Clinic, and Jeon Hee-dae of Banobagi Dermatology Center, who are all members of the Merz Beautiful Promise Steering Committee, spoke about various aesthetic trends that they have observed in the clinical field.

The four aesthetic experts shared meaningful clinical cases utilizing various products from the Merz product portfolio, including Ulthera, a powerful ultrasound lifting device; Xeomin, botulinum toxin; Belotero, hyaluronic acid filler; and Radiesse, a CaHA preparation; and led in-depth discussions on safe and effective treatment methods based on scientific values.

"This year's MASJ Symposium was very meaningful as we could understand the needs of consumers and analyze and discuss the direction of aesthetics based on various perspectives with authoritative healthcare professionals in Korea,” Merz Aesthetics Korea General Manager Yu Su-yeon said. “We are also very grateful that more healthcare professionals than last year participated in the 'Beautiful Promise' campaign to build a healthy aesthetic environment."
