Severance Hospital said that Professor Kuh Sung-uk at the Department of Neurosurgery, who also teaches at Yonsei University's College of Medicine, was honored with the grand prize at the 8th Medical Device Industry Awards Ceremony.
Professor Kuh also serves as head of external relations at Severance Hospital.
The event, organized and hosted by the Korea Medical Device Industry Association on Tuesday, recognized outstanding contributions to the development and advancement of the medical device industry.
Since its inception in 2016, the Medical Device Industry Awards have annually celebrated medical professionals and researchers who have significantly contributed to the field through innovative and creative ideas or technologies. This year marks the eighth iteration of the ceremony, continuing its tradition of fostering excellence within the industry.
Professor Kuh received the award after playing a pivotal role in establishing the Department of Medical Device Industry and the Department of Convergence Medicine at Yonsei University's Graduate School.
By introducing a curriculum focused on practical skill development, he has significantly contributed to nurturing professionals with the core competencies and global competitiveness required to lead the medical device industry.
Additionally, Professor Kuh's efforts in conducting innovative medical device demonstration projects have been recognized for supporting the growth and development of medical device companies, thereby fostering the advancement of the healthcare industry and creating social value.
In his acceptance speech, Professor Kuh expressed his gratitude towards all those who have supported the operation and development of the medical device industry program.
"I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the Korean medical device industry leads the global market," Kuh said.
