The hospital said the presidential citation is related to the global healthcare activities it has been promoting.

For instance, BESTCare 2.0, a medical information system developed by the hospital, has been exported to 24 hospitals worldwide, including Saudi Arabia, the United States, the UAE, and Japan, and is well known as an example of the success of Korean-made medical information systems in the U.S.-oriented IT healthcare market.

The hospital said that SNUBH is also contributing to the growth of Korea's medical tourism industry by building an international medical center to attract foreign patients.

In 2019, the SNUBH International Medical Center became the first in Korea to be accredited by GHA (Global Health Accreditation), an international medical accreditation organization, and it recently received the organization's highest level of accreditation, Accreditation with Excellence, confirming its capabilities as an international medical tourism organization.

Besides, the hospital provides advanced training to doctors worldwide in various fields, including minimally invasive surgeries such as laparoscopic and robotic surgery, brain tumors, and cerebrovascular surgery. It attracts international healthcare officials who want to benchmark the hospital's digital healthcare and IT systems.

In 2021, Colombian President Ivan Duque visited SNUBH's Healthcare Innovation Park for medical cooperation and benchmarking.
