GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Korea said Friday that Hong Yoo-seok, head of GSK’s Korean division, will act as the president of GSK Canada Pharmaceuticals starting next month. Hong has served as GSK Korea’s president since 2014.

Before joining GSK, Hong served as general manager of the Korean division of Eli Lilly and Company and the senior director of strategy in the company’s emerging markets business unit at its U.S. headquarters. Hong also acted as the CEO and general manager of Teva-Handok.

Hong has vast experience in the pharmaceutical market, having innovated patient-oriented sales marketing models that led to the sales growth and product launches of GSK’s major diseases, the company said.

Julien Samson was appointed to succeed Hong as the head of GSK Korea. Samson, who has been in charge of GSK’s Global Respiratory Franchise after a career in public hospitals and government agencies in France, is known as a specialist with a wealth of healthcare and pharmaceutical experience in both public and private sectors, according to the company.
