Lunit said Friday that it has officially launched Lunit INSIGHT for Mammography, an artificial intelligence software that finds breast cancer with 97 percent accuracy.

When uploading an image, the platform automatically locates the position of the tumor as a heat map, while the malignancy of the cancer is also immediately shown in a score format.

According to the company, clinical studies have shown that Lunit INSIGHT can have a positive impact on the read performance of radiologists.

“By using Lunit INSIGHT, the detection rate accuracy of the surgeon and the specialist is expected to increase and the recall rate to decrease,” the company said.

However, the company did add that as of now Lunit INSIGHT for Mammography is a research software for mammography as it has not received medical device approval both in Korea and abroad.

“The platform should not be for clinical purposes such as patient diagnosis and treatment,” it said.
