Kakao Healthcare said Tuesday that it has signed a business agreement with global food care and catering company OURHOME to develop AI-based ultra-personalized healthcare solutions jointly.
Kakao Healthcare CEO Hwang Hee and OURHOME CEO Koo Ji-eun signed the memorandum of understanding at Kakao Healthcare's headquarters in Pangyo, just south of Seoul.
The two companies plan to combine Kakao Healthcare's AI-based smart blood glucose management technology capabilities with OURHOME's R&D source technology and data on more than 20,000 nutritional diets, which are among the best in the world, to provide ultra-personalized healthcare solutions, such as customized nutrition management services.
The two companies will combine their blood sugar management technology capabilities and diet composition to provide sophisticated, personalized healthcare services for chronic disease management.
They also plan to precisely track changes in the health status of consumers who receive diet and nutrition consulting through KALIS Lab using PASTA AI technology and provide customized healthcare content according to their condition. To this end, the two companies will actively share technologies and know-how accumulated from operating Kakao Healthcare's PASTA and Our Home's KALIS lab.
In February, Kakao Healthcare launched its AI-based smart blood sugar management solution, PASTA. It is a class 2 software medical device certified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) that analyzes blood glucose levels measured in real-time through CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitoring) and lifestyle data, including diet, exercise, and sleep, entered by users through AI and suggests appropriate lifestyles.
"As the importance of nutrition is growing globally, we are pleased to have the opportunity to meaningfully collaborate with OURHOMR, which has the best expertise in nutrition in Korea," Kakao Healthcare CEO Hwang said. "We will use PASTA's AI blood glucose management technology to introduce innovative ultra-personalized healthcare solutions."
OURHOME CEO Koo said, "Our best asset is our active data, which we have accumulated over many years of providing food, beverage, and healthcare services to many global customers."
OURHOME is continuously working on enhancing health-related personalized diets based on its country- and customer-specific menu preferences and dietary nutritional balance data, Koo added, noting that the combination of OURHOME and Kakao Healthcare with these assets would be a turning point that presents a new paradigm in the domestic healthcare industry.
