LIH is a public institution dedicated to promoting national health and international cancer research. It is recognized as a leading research institution in the field of precision medicine in Europe. In the 2022 Times Higher Education rankings, it was placed 15th globally and 7th among non-educational institutions in Europe.

The agreement aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas on healthcare data and biobanks, and explore possibilities for joint cancer research. The institutions will cooperate in academic and personnel exchanges, cancer prevention, registration, clinical research, and the joint organization of academic events.

"This agreement marks a commitment between our institutions not only in academic and personnel exchanges but also in cancer prevention and research,” NCC President Seo Hong-gwan said. “This will lead to the revitalization of healthcare in both countries.”

With this close cooperation, NCC aims to contribute to the strengthening of healthcare in both nations and to continuously develop a mutually beneficial relationship, ultimately opening new horizons in cancer conquest."

LIH CEO Ulf Nehrbass also said, “Through our collaboration with the NCC, we aim to expedite the era of personalized cancer treatment based on the utilization of healthcare data.”

The partnership is expected to generate synergies and achieve tangible outcomes in the field of cancer treatment, Nehrbass added.
