Professor Kim Min-seok Myongji Hospital said Friday that Professor Kim Min-seok of the hospital’s Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery received the Best Oral Presentation Award at the 10th International Coronary Congress (ICC).
Professor Kim presented one lecture and three clinical research oral presentations, of which “Prediction of competitive graft flow shown on 1-Y angiogram from preoperative computed tomography-derived fractional flow reserve after coronary artery bypass graft surgery using cardiac computed tomography” (conducted jointly with Kim Jung-won, Lee Chul-ho, Hwang Sung-wook, and Kim Ki-bong) was selected as the best oral presentation among more than 100 clinical research presentations.
The study was highly evaluated for its ability to use preoperative cardiac computed tomography data to predict surgical outcomes and suggest patient-specific treatment strategies.
Professor Kim presented his research on “Minimizing Sternal and Leg Wound Complications after CABG Using No-Touch Saphenous Vein Composite Grafts: No mediastinitis among 267 consecutive patients” jointly with Hwang Sung-wook and Kim Ki-bong Kim, and on “Computed Tomography-Derived Fractional Flow Reserve Based Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting: 3 cases, with Hwang Sung-wook and Kim Ki-bong, which analyzed the clinical outcomes of patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting at Myongji Hospital since March 2021 when the Myongji Hospital Cardiovascular Center was newly renovated.
In addition to the three presentations, Professor Kim also delivered a lecture on “Effect of Patent Complete Revascularization on the Akinetic Myocardial Segments in Preoperative Echocardiography,” which demonstrated the clinical capabilities of Myongji Hospital Cardiovascular Center, which has grown to a world-class level.
“I am pleased that the clinical data and research capabilities of Myongji Hospital Cardiovascular Center have been recognized internationally with this award,” Professor Kim said. “I will strive to build on this achievement to provide optimal care to more patients.”
The ICC Congress, held from Dec. 12 to 15 in London, was attended by more than 300 cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons from around the world who specialize in coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
